General Information

The National Lead Information Center provides the general public and professionals with information about lead, lead hazards, preventing lead exposure and becoming a certified lead-based paint professional. For general information or questions regarding lead in paint, dust and soil, or help finding documents, use the form below, or call 1-800-424-LEAD [5323], Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET (except federal holidays).

Lead in Paint & Dust

EPA has ten regional offices that implement federal environmental programs around the country. Within each region, a regional lead-lased paint coordinator oversees the implementation of lead-based paint exposure prevention efforts. Find your Regional EPA Lead-Based Paint Coordinator to get information about lead-based paint exposure prevention efforts in your area.

Lead in Drinking Water

If you have a comment or question about lead in drinking water, please complete the ground water and drinking water inquiry form. Be sure to review the frequently asked questions at the top of the page before submitting your inquiry.

Superfund Sites

For questions about lead related to a specific Superfund site, search for Superfund sites where you live. If you still have questions, contact the community involvement coordinator or remedial project manager for the specific Superfund site. Contact information is listed on each site's webpage.

Report a Violation

If you suspect potentially harmful environmental activities have taken place in your community or workplace, file a report online using the map on  EPA’s Report Lead-Based Paint Complaints, Tips and Violations webpage. Information you submit will be forwarded to EPA environmental enforcement personnel or to the appropriate regulatory authority.
