Electric Reliability MOU
Memorandum of Understanding on Interagency Communication and Consultation on Electric Reliability
The Department of Energy (DOE) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) signed a Joint Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Interagency Communication and Consultation on Electric Reliability. The agreement provides a framework for both agencies to support reliable electric service as they carry out their respective missions and authorities, and as the power sector adapts to rapid and significant changes.

On December 16, 2024, EPA and DOE published a joint report summarizing activities undertaken thus far on the Memorandum. The report provides the public with information on activities and engagements under the Memorandum which have strengthened communication and collaboration on electric system reliability within and outside of the federal government. The Summary Report highlights federal commitment to transparency and continued engagement on this important topic.
