    Puget Sound is designated as one of 28 estuaries of national significance. With funding from EPA's National Estuary Program (NEP), the Puget Sound Partnership maintains the Puget Sound NEP Atlas to track and share information about investments, activities, and accomplishments.

    Puget Sound is part of a larger marine ecosystem called the Salish Sea, which also includes the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and the Georgia Basin in Canada.

Puget Sound Coordinated Recovery

The Puget Sound Recovery National Program Office was established by Congress to coordinate and manage EPA's restoration and protection efforts in Puget Sound – the second largest estuary in the U.S. Learn more about EPA's Puget Sound program office.
