Occupational exposure to radiation

The EPA sets environmental standards that apply to members of the public. Worker safety at facilities licensed to use radioactive materials is handled jointly by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Electromagnetic radiation from cell phones, radio transmitters and other devices is regulated by other federal agencies. The EPA sets limits on the radiation introduced into the environment from the use of radioactive elements like uranium.
