Application and Testing for SmartWay Verification of Low Rolling Resistance (LRR) Tires and Retread Technologies for Tractors or Trailers
Application Process
Follow these steps to submit testing information:
1. SmartWay Technology Application and Reporting System (STARS ) Registration
Follow the instructions provided by EPA in response to your “Contact Information” submittal.
2. Necessary information and materials
Once the contact information has been submitted, prepare the following information for electronic submittal.
Required Materials
- Application Documentation to be provided:
- Manufacturer address and Model information
- Official Company Contacts (primary and secondary contact information)
- Tire model information
- Distributor or dealer where the tires are available for purchase
- Test Reports
- Test tire information
- Attestation Statement
- A copy of the laboratory accreditation certificate (in English translation, if necessary)
- Marketing materials for the tire, including: company brochures if available
- Retreads ONLY include:, including:
Three separate photographs showing the following aspects of the retread tire:
- the sidewall model stamp
- the tread from the side view
- the tread face
3. Submit information and documentation in STARS
4. Evaluation
Once all data, test reports, and associated documentation are submitted technology will be evaluated for verification.
