EPA Resources

Radiation Protection is the gateway to EPA's overall Radiation Protection Program.

National Air and Radiation Environmental Laboratory provides additional information on RadNet and other environmental monitoring and laboratory facilities at EPA.

Basic and Technical Resources

Understanding Radiation provides basic as well as some technical information on radiation.

Technical Information provides access to a large array of scientific information about radiation, radioactivity, and radiation protection.

Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors (CRCPD) is made up of radiation professionals in state and local government who regulate the use of radiation sources.

Other EPA Information provides additional basic and technical information.

U.S. Systems

Idaho Environmental Monitoring Program is an educational outreach effort by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for the communities surrounding the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory.

Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Environmental Monitoring Unit provides state reports on the monitoring network around each of Michigan's nuclear power plant sites.

New Jersey Department of Environmental Protectionprovides the Continuous Radiological Environmental Surveillance Telemetry (CREST) system.

Tennessee Department of the Environment and Conservation provides monitoring reports of Oak Ridge, TN.

U.S. Department of Energy, Community Environmental Monitoring Program is a network of monitoring stations located in communities surrounding the Nevada Test Site (NTS) that monitor the airborne environment for man-made radioactivity.

U.S. Department of Energy, Central Internet Database is a site offering national level DOE waste management and cleanup data.

U.S. Centers for Disease Control, Radiation Studies Branch site with a significant amount of ambient radiation data. Including a feasibility study of the health consequences to the American population from nuclear weapons tests conducted by the U.S. and other nations.

U.S. Geological Survey report addresses the occurrence of selected radionuclides in ground water used for drinking water in the United States.

International Systems

Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO)describes the International Monitoring System, a network of 321 monitoring stations and 16 radionuclide laboratories that monitor the earth for evidence of nuclear explosions in all environments.

Global Environmental Radiation Monitoring Networkdescribes the network of World Health Organization collaborating centers and liaison institutions related to regular monitoring of radioactivity in environment.

Health Canadaprovides a report on environmental radioactivity using Canada's radiation surveillance program.

Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA)provides on-line real-time results from the environmental radioactivity monitoring systems of the JAEA sites.

The Radiation Protection Division of the Health Protection Agency provides advice and information on radiation protection in the UK
