In accordance with Executive Order 14224 (in English), which designates English as the official language of the United States, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is reviewing and updating, as necessary, its language access policies and procedures. This webpage and documents will be updated when new materials are available.

Pursuant to a permanent injunction issued by the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana on August 22, 2024, EPA will not impose or enforce any disparate impact or cumulative impact analysis requirements under Title VI against any entity in the State of Louisiana. Click here for additional and updated information.

On November 3, 2023,  EPA published an updated  EPA Order 1000.32, "Improving Access to Services for Persons with Limited English Proficiency." The Order, originally issued in 2011, outlines necessary steps that the Agency needs to take in order to provide meaningful access to individuals with LEP to EPA programs, activities, and services. EPA is currently reviewing the Order and making the necessary updates to comply with EO 14224.
