Community Involvement Information

EPA provides public outreach by regularly meeting with stakeholders at the state, local, and federal levels, developing fact sheets and newsletters for public distribution, updating the site’s webpage, and hosting in-person informational meetings. EPA staff also attend local events, speaks on panels, and work with stakeholders to engage in effective outreach.

In 2025, the EPA and DEQ site teams began hosting a series of “Community Conversations” at Old Bull Brewing in Frenchtown. These informal, one-on-one conversations provide community members with an opportunity to get their questions answered and meet the EPA and DEQ site team. EPA also presents periodically at Frenchtown Community Advisory Group meetings, which occur the first Thursday of each month at the Frenchtown Rural Fire District. The Smurfit-Stone team members are also always available by phone or email to address questions and concerns from the public.
