General Assistance Program (GAP)
EPA provides funding through General Assistance Program grants to federally recognized Tribes and Tribal consortia for planning, developing and establishing environmental protection programs in Indian country, and for developing and implementing solid and hazardous waste programs on Tribal lands.

Contaminated ANCSA lands
The EPA implements a grant program to assist Tribal entities in Alaska with addressing contamination on Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) lands that were contaminated prior to the time of conveyance. Funding is awarded as cooperative agreements for site assessment and remediation, as well as related community outreach and involvement.

Water program grants
- Clean Water Act Section 106 Tribal Program Funding - Section 106 of the Clean Water Act provides funding to support water pollution control programs. Currently 40 Tribes are eligible to receive Section 106 funding within Region 10.
- Clean Water Act Section 319 Tribal Program Funding - EPA offers grants and technical assistance to support Tribal environmental programs in assessing and managing their nonpoint source pollution problems and threats under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act. Currently 33 Tribes are eligible to receive Section 319 funding within Region 10.
- Tribal Wetland Program Development Grants - Funding to develop the capacity of Tribes and intertribal consortia to increase the quantity and quality of wetlands by conserving and restoring wetland acreage and improving wetland condition.
- Alaska Native Village and Rural Communities Water Grant Program - Funding to assist rural Alaskan communities with construction of new or improved wastewater and drinking water systems. Communities can also use the funding for training and technical assistance in system operations and maintenance.
Air program grants
- Clean Air Act Tribal Grants - Sections 103 and 105 of the Clean Air Act allow EPA to provide grant support to help build Tribal capacity to manage air quality issues.
- Diesel Emissions Reduction Act Tribal and Territory Grants - Funding for Tribal projects that achieve significant reductions in diesel emissions and diesel emissions exposure.
- Multipurpose Grants to States and Tribes - Discretionary funding for Tribes that have been delegated federal regulatory authority through the treatment in a similar manner to a state.
- State and Tribal Indoor Radon Grants - Funding available to help Tribes and states finance their radon risk reduction programs. Recipients must provide a minimum of 40% in matching funds.
Brownfields
EPA’s Brownfields Program provides competitive funding for brownfield projects, including assessment, cleanup, multipurpose, revolving loan funds, job training, and technical assistance. The program also provides non-competitive funding to state and Tribal response programs, and for recapitalization of existing revolving loan funds.

Performance Partnership Grants
Tribes and intertribal consortia can choose to combine funds from multiple federal environmental grants into one Performance Partnership Grant (PPG). A PPG reduces administrative burden and allows grantees to direct resources where they are most needed. Tribes and intertribal consortia are eligible for PPGs if they are eligible to receive two or more of the grants that can be combined into a PPG.
