Waste Managed by Parent Company
Facilities that report to TRI must provide information about their parent company. For TRI reporting, a parent company is the highest-level company in the facility’s ownership hierarchy as of December 31 of the reporting year. The U.S. parent company is located within the United States, while the foreign parent company is located outside the United States. Reporting year 2023 was the first year where facilities were required to report their foreign parent company name, if applicable. EPA groups facilities by parent company to analyze waste management at the parent company level and identify companies that regularly implement source reduction activities.
This figure shows the U.S. parent companies whose facilities reported the most waste managed for 2023.
Notes: 1) This figure uses EPA’s standardized parent company names. 2) To view facility counts and the primary industry sectors reporting to TRI for the parent company, hover over the bar graph. 3) Incobrasa Industries Ltd does not report a parent company but it is included in this figure because it reported a comparable quantity of waste managed.
These parent companies’ TRI-reporting facilities mostly operate in the following industry sectors:
- Chemical manufacturing: Sabic US Holdings LP, AdvanSix Inc, The Chemours Company, Dow Inc, Syngenta Corp
- Food manufacturing: CHS Inc, Perdue Farms Inc, Incobrasa Industries Ltd, International Flavors & Fragrances Inc
