For 2023, 715 facilities in the wood products manufacturing sector reported to TRI. Facilities in this sector make wood products, such as lumber, plywood, veneers, wood containers, wood flooring, manufactured (mobile) homes, and prefabricated wood buildings. The production processes of the sector include sawing, planing, shaping, and, for composite wood products, bonding wood material with resin.
The chart below shows the number of facilities by wood products subsector for 2023. While the veneer, plywood, and engineered wood product subsector accounts for 18% of the sector’s facilities, this subsector reports more than half (53%) of the sector’s releases. Conversely, sawmills and wood preservation account for the most (53%) facilities reporting to TRI in the sector but report 29% of the releases.
